Roller Derby
Hello past and present ACTURS members,
We have been offered an awesome opportunity to
put on a show at 1/2 time of the Roller Derby on the evening of
Saturday 29 May
The audience is expected to be 1000 people as the match is sold out so we are keen to put on a really good performance and really raise the profile of unicycling in the ACT.
We are inviting all unicyclists to take part in this performance. You do not need to be a current member of ACTURS but you will need to be a member of the AUS so that you are covered by insurance. If you aren't a member you can pay your $20 AUS membership fee at one of the practice sessions- this will also cover you to take part in UNINATS in Canberra in October.
Our usual Wednesday evening session is cancelled this week as the school has a function on but we can use Canberra High school for a performance planning and practice session this Saturdaysometime between mid morning and mid afternoon for 1.5 hours- I will confirm the exact time dependent on people's availability.
We will also be rehearsing at our usual session at Canberra High School at 7-8.30pm on Wednesday 26th May.
Please email me if you want to take part as we need to have a good idea of numbers and skills available by next Saturday Let me know what you're best at- eg trials, Freestyle, Sumo, racing, hockey etc
as the performance we put together will depend on the skills available. We have about 20 minutes to perform. It would be great to have a variety of skills. There will be some trials equipment available and we can source any other equipment as needed.. You will also need to make it to at least one rehearsal session and preferably both.
The theme is Mad Stax: Beyond the Hyperdome so we will be performing to a Mad Max music soundtrack.
The performance venue is the Southern Cross Basketball Stadium, Cnr Athlon Drive and Cowlishaw Street, Tuggeranong ACT. Performers will need to be there at 5.15pm on 29th May and we will be on at 7pm.
If any interstate unicyclists are interested in coming to Canberra for the day we can also set up some hockey matches on the Saturday during the day.
